Dellwood Hills Country Club

Overview:

From a former DJ in 2012:

When setting up at Dellwood Country Club, the DJ typically sets up next to the fireplace, on the edge of the dance floor.  There are two pillars that you end up setting your table between.  There is also a low overhang that forces you to move your lights out front just a little so that you can raise your light stand up to the height you want it at.  By moving the lights out just past the low overhang, you can get them to a height where they will have a greater effect on your dance floor.
A couple of things to be cautious about – the head table is typically put right in front of you, actually on the dance floor.  It will be removed one dinner is over, but while it is up, you need to be aware of the direction your speakers are pointing and the overall sound level.  You don’t want to blast the bride and groom out during dinner.  You also need to be aware that when it is time for toasts, the people speaking and using your wireless mic will be no more than 15-20 feet away from your speakers, so watch your levels and avoid the feedback.
Lastly, if they have a large group (over 250), there will be tables behind you for dinner, as well as the head table on the dance floor.  The room will also be very tight, so doing a grand march will be tricky as you will have to clear a path for the wedding party to get from the entrance to the room to the head table.
It’s a beautiful room.  The staff is awesome, and so is the food.  Enjoy your event there and I hope these helpful tips are just that, helpful.

Load In:

Load in is pretty easy. You'll park by the main door and once you're in, it's a small walk over to the ballroom and then to your table.

Challenges:

Head table will be right in front of you. I had the same experience as the DJ from 2012 who wrote the overview. Raise the speakers towards the ceiling so they don't get blasted. Don't compete with people talking and make sure the head table can very easily hold a conversation.

A large group can lead to a crammed room. Be aware of this, because it can lead to microphone feedback along with issues in terms of getting around.

Extra Venue Call Questions:

None, but be sure to ask the basics.
