Overview:
From a DJ in 2012:
The Walker is a cool place but if you show up not knowing anything, things can get a little confusing. First of all, make sure you contact them (they may call you before you call them). Anyways, talk to the AV guy and he will tell you what’s up. You’ll want to park in the parking garage (they’ll validate your parking ticket) and do your load-in from there. They typically supply a cart and will even help you load in and out at the end of the night. You’ll be in one of two places – Gallery 8 or the sky-room (can’t remember the exact name). Both require some elevator rides. Ask before you use duct tape. Other than the load in taking a bit longer than normal, everything else is pretty straightforward
Load In:
Load In:
You will load in from the parking garage. There's a door that takes your right to an elevator and from there you will go the floor you need and the site will be right there. It's really not as horrible as it sounds, but it's obviously not a great load in situation.
Challenges:
The load-in is a challenge in itself. Aside from that, the place is very artsy and modern. They didn't even have a cloth with my table because it took away from that arty feel. I had to hide the cords with my coffin's case.
It's a long, narrow room. Depending on the size of the wedding, it may be beneficial to use the venue's house microphone for speeches. With that said, I'm not 100% sure if they have one. Ask ahead.
Extra Venue Call Questions:
What floor is the reception taking place?
Where should I load in?
Do you have a house microphone that can be used for speeches?
