Overview:
From DJ Matt R:
Public space, so load in and set up must happen quickly. Dinner takes place on second floor and ceremony and dance on the third floor. Can tap into house system with iPod for dinner music. Use house mic for toasts. For dance, speakers go on floor. Acoustically challenging. Uplighting needs plenty of cords and gaff tape. This venue HIGHLY recommends us. Challenges: Plenty of challenges. Since it's a public space, you have to load-in AFTER a certain time. This time could cause you to have to load-in during a time window in order to be ready to play music when the client wants you to. Have a cart ready, it will be quicker. The venue causes problems with sound control. The best way to combat difficult acoustics and sound control is to keep the speakers low. Go ahead and put the speakers right on the floor for the dance. This keeps the noise low and lets the bodies of the people on the dance floor absorb the music rather than having the sound echo off the walls and ceiling. Etc: We have a great relationship with this venue. They highly recommend us and we want them to continue to do just that. Be kind to the venue staff and try to help them anyway you can. We send DJs to this venue that we trust to keep our great relationship with this venue. Extra Venue Call Questions: What time can I begin setting up? Do you have a cart? Do you have a house system I can use? Can I plug an iPod or laptop into the system to play music? Is there a house mic for toasts?
