Overview:
From DJ Andy A:
One of the trickiest load-ins with the security, driving under the building, the loading dock, and the heavy carpet they put in there upstairs (hard to roll your gear across- especially if you're in the rooms on the far side of the bar & escalator...). I allow 2 + hours for load-ins. The venue staff there also have not anticipated that I need a table cover/cloth for my main set-up, which has delayed setting up more than once: it's worth explicitly covering that need over the phone.
There's also the multiple set-up there for cocktail hours, which are in the hallways or the balcony area overlooking the main floor entrance & skyway level.
Load In:
One of the most challenging load-ins. You have to do a lot of walking and a cart is absolutely necessary. You'll have to go through security in order to get to get to the loading dock and then the venue. Make sure you have a cart. If the venue doesn't have a cart for you, I will.
Give yourself at least an hour or more alone on just loading your equipment in.
Challenges:
The load-in itself will be difficult and will take a lot of time.
This is a relatively new venue, so there's a chance they're not well understood in what a DJ needs and what a DJ is used to. Be sure to cover all of this on the phone. As you can see above, Andy didn't have a cloth for his main system. Make sure you politely let them know what you need.
Extra Venue Call Questions:
Where do I load in?
How do I get through security?
(Explain what you'll need and ask if they'll have it avaliable for you)
Do you have a cart I can use?
