Bunker Hills Golf Course
Overview:
From DJ Mike H:
Bunker Hills is an upscale Golf Course in Coon Rapids. It's a very routine wedding venue with an easy load-in and a ballroom which doesn't pose many challenges.
Load-in by pulling up to the front door of the event entrance (which is to the left of the clubhouse) and then move your equipment into the ballroom. Easy as pie.
As I mentioned, this is a pretty easy set up. Cocktail hour, dinner and dance all happen in the same place, so you're only set up in one location which you stay. I did not have a ceremony when I was there, so I can't currently speak on behalf of where a ceremony would be located at this venue.
The ballroom is pretty big, so I'd suggest using the venue's microphone for speeches. Your microphone will work just fine for the Grand March and making announcements once the dance has started. However, it's a pretty easy ballroom. Just a big rectangle room, no quirky angles or anything you'll have to deal with.
The staff there was very nice and helpful while I was there on April 30, 2016. Be sure to compare your notes with them and let them know you're happy to help if need be! They really appreciated it.
Load-In:
Easy. Pull up to the door and load in.
Challenges:
It is a large ballroom, but I don't see this as a huge challenge. Can be a little difficult for background music, since the people in the back might not hear it very well, but if you turn it up the people in the front get blasted. Of course, you'd rather have it a little on the quiet side than on the loud side, so people can still converse. Use the venue's microphone and make sure you're being loud and assertive when you use your own microphone.
Extra Venue Call Questions:
None, but make sure to ask all the basic venue call questions.
