Overview:
From Bayview's Event Manager in 2012:
"BayView Event Center has 2 main spaces for events. The Minnetonka Room is the larger room on the main or top floor with a large fireplace when you enter the main double doors. The easiest way to load in equipment for DJ’s is through these main doors, the doors can be propped open by fully extending the doors. DJ’s are normally set up to the left of the fireplace when you enter the room. All of the hook-ups and outlets are on the wall right by the DJ table. You can always find an employee or the event coordinator and ask for a floorplan when you arrive if you have any questions. The following link will show you an example of an upcoming wedding layout, you can also call us and we can send you over any floorplan ahead of time."
Load In:
Not a bad load-in. Pull your car right up to the front door and bring your gear in. If you're downstairs, there's another door off to the right that will be better because it's right by the stairs.
Challenges:
This can be a challenging venue because there is often times multiple places you'll have to play. Sometimes the cocktail/dinner can be half outside and half inside! If that happens, you'll have to set up one speaker inside and one speaker outside. Then you can connect one speaker to another using XLR cords. Call me if you end up with this situation and ask about this with the client/venue call.
There are multiple places you could be. Upstairs or downstairs. One isn't more difficult than the other, although if you're downstairs the cocktail hour and possibly the dinner will be outside.
Extra Venue Call Questions:
Where is cocktail hour taking place?
Where is dinner taking place?
Where is the dance taking place?
