Minnesota Boat Club
Overview:
From DJ Mike H:
Minnesota Boat Club is about five miles from the warehouse and less than a mile from A'bulae at Raspberry Island in St. Paul.
The load-in isn't terrible. You'll have to park outside the front door and move your gear upstairs to the second floor and then over to your table. It's a pretty small room and it can be very crammed so a cart might not do too well because you'll have to maneuver around tables. Give yourself a bit of extra time because they have an elevator but sometimes it's not in use, meaning you'll have to take a small flight of stairs.
Once you're there, it's pretty smooth sailing. It's not a large room by any stretch and it's usually pretty crammed in there. There will almost certainly be tables on the dance floor during dinner and the staff will have to get those moved before the dance. That's a good point to bring up during the venue call.
It's a very nice venue and has a beautiful view of the river and downtown St. Paul. Have fun!
Load-In:
Not super easy, not super difficult. You'll have to bring your stuff upstairs and you'll be pretty crammed with tables and small hallways. Give yourself time and it should be pretty stress free.
Challenges:
It's not a challenging venue, but it is a very small venue. Be polite about getting around tables and getting through traffic of people. Since it's so small, the volume of people talking during cocktail and dinner might be pretty loud. Don't turn up the background music to try to compete with them, keep it at a nice low volume and bring the speakers up towards the ceiling during this time.
Extra Venue Call Questions:
Will there be an elevator I can use to move my equipment upstairs?
When will tables be moved to make room for the dance floor?
Is there somebody from the Boat Club to excuse people from those tables?
