Nicollet Island Pavilion

Nicollet Island Pavilion is over by the St. Anthony area in Minneapolis. It's a nice, big venue with a pretty view of the river and skyline just outside of the main venue.

Load-in is very easy. You will pull up right to the door, bring your gear inside and your table won't be far.

Often times, cocktail hour is outside in the courtyard behind the venue. If this is the case, set-up a speaker and plug an iPod/laptop into the speaker along with a wired microphone to make the announcement for people to move inside. Right after you make the announcement, move your speaker and microphone inside to your table. 

It's a pretty large venue, so feel free to use their house microphone for speeches. However, on one occasion I noticed their microphone wasn't working so be sure to do a good test and make sure it's working well before you use it. 

It's a big rectangle, so there's nothing too quirky in terms of getting the sound out. Keep the speakers low to the ground during dance and up high during dinner to get the sound to travel farther during dinner and to let it absorb the bodies during the dance.

One of the easiest load-ins you'll come across. Park right next to the door and bring your gear in.

Challenges:

The cocktail hour can be a challenge if it's outside because you'll have to set up a speaker outside and then move that speaker immediately after it ends. 

The size of the venue could be a challenge, I would really suggest using the venue's house microphone which is of course built to play throughout the entire venue. The time I used my microphone for speeches, it worked just fine but I had the speakers up pretty high and turned the microphone up.
