Keller Golf Course

Overview:

From DJ Mike H:

I had the opportunity to tour Keller Golf Course with the event manager, Lyndsey on March 23rd, 2016. She gave me a lot of great information about the space, which I think will be helpful.

Load-in is easy. Pull your car up to the front door, move your gear into the elevator, go up to the second floor and move the equipment to the ballroom. There is a decent walk once you get upstairs to the main ballroom, so if you want a cart, let me know ahead of time. They more than likely will not be able to get you a cart.

The main reception/dance take place in a moderately big ballroom. You'll have a table which is usually on the far end of the ballroom and you'll be set up and good to go. However, ceremonies and cocktail hour occur in a different location.

There are two locations where ceremonies occur. One is outside on the patio and another is in a medium sized room outside of the ballroom. In either case, you'll have to set everything up as there they do not use venue sound for ceremonies. Ask where your ceremony will be taking place, if you have one.

The cocktail hour takes place in a medium sized room outside of the ballroom that I talked about above. The venue has speakers and plays background music during this time. However, there is no way to connect an iPod or laptop during this time. If they have specific music they want to hear for cocktail hour, you'll have to set up one speaker in that room and then plug an iPod/laptop into the speaker.

The venue has a wireless microphone for speeches, but Lyndsey told me she'd prefer the DJ uses his/her microphone because they have more ability to adjust the volume. When Grandpa Joe talks on the mic with his hand by his belt, it's very difficult for them to adjust the sound to gather more volume. Just use your microphone. It's not a terribly big room and you should have no problems getting the sound out.

Load-In:

Easy. Pull up to the door and then put the gear in the elevator to the 2nd floor. Bring a cart if you'd like, they won't have one for you.

Challenges:

There's a different location for cocktail hour and if the client has specific music they need to hear, you have to set up a speaker to ensure that music plays. Otherwise, the venue can play background music in the cocktail hour space, but there's no iPod/laptop plug so it won't be any music specific to the bride and groom.

Not a terribly challenging venue. It's a big rectangle ballroom and shouldn't provide and acoustical challenges. Give yourself extra time to ensure you know what you're doing to get sound to all the rooms you're playing music at.

Special Considerations:

Lyndsey would prefer an email than a call. She can send you her timeline and other information which can be helpful.

We had a good discussion and she's looking forward to having us out there. This venue is a member of Lancer Catering, which has about 5-6 venues throughout the Twin Cities. They all refer each other, so we're trying to get in with them.
