Wellstead of Rogers: The Crown Room
Overview:
From DJ Mike H:
The Wellstead of Rogers is one of our strongest venue relationships. They refer our DJ services and have for a long time because they've enjoyed the work we do. If you're being sent to the Wellstead of Rogers, it's because I know you'll do an excellent job representing our company and will help maintain our strong relationship with this venue.
Best of all, it's not a terribly difficult venue. In fact, it's pretty simple.
The load-in is easy. Just pull up to the front door of the venue and bring your equipment in. I don't know if they'll have a cart available for you or not, but at this venue, you really don't need one.
The DJ table is typically set up at the front right corner of the room. The DJ stays in that spot for the entire ceremony/dinner/dance. During the ceremony, you may be able to plug your system into the venue's house system so you can use their speakers. I don't remember exactly, but I think I did this when I was at the Crown Room back in 2014.
Once the ceremony is over, the cocktail hour is usually held outside of the main ballroom while the room is being flipped from ceremony to reception. At this time, I believe you can plug an iPod/laptop into their house system to play music in the foyer area outside of the ballroom. You'll have to call with the venue to verify this. If they don't have speakers or anyway you can play music out in the foyer, you'll have to set up an individual speaker.
The dance/dinner is a piece of cake. It's a pretty large ballroom, so I found the venue's microphone will work best for toasts/speeches. It's a rectangle room, no weird angles or anything that could prevent the sound from getting where it needs to go.
Have fun! If you have any questions, please let me know.
Special Considerations:
Our DJ division has a very strong relationship with this venue. Matt is very good friends with Gina, who is the event manager. We only send our best DJs out there and if you're reading this, you're one of them!
Challenges:
It's not a particularly challenging venue. You'll have to coordinate with somebody to determine if they want you to plug into their house sound for the ceremony, if you're able to plug an iPod or laptop in for cocktail hour and if they'll have a venue microphone that will work for speeches. This is the biggest challenge you'll face with this venue and all can be made much easier with a quick venue call.
Extra Venue Call Questions:
Do you have a house system in the main ballroom?
Does the DJ plug into the house system for the ceremony, or do I use my own speakers?
Where is the cocktail hour being held?
Are the speakers in the cocktail hour area so I can plug an iPod/laptop in?
