Overview:
From DJ Matt R:
Huge room (70 foot high ceilings), lots of hard surfaces, so acoustically challenging. Additionally, part of the seating area for dinner with large groups is out of the reach of the house system, so toasts are very challenging. Uplighting is challenging and requires lots of gaff tape and plenty of cords. Typically use house mic for officiant for ceremonies, and can tap into house system for music for ceremony Load In: I have never been to this venue and as of 1/7/16, I do not have information regarding the load-in. Call ahead of time. Challenges: It's a very tall room, so keep those speakers low to the ground. Do a good test with the house microphone and if you think some of the seating for dinner is out of reach, you might want to use your own speakers and move a speaker towards that area. Ask for extra XLR cords if you choose to do this, it could be very helpful to plug the speaker in from a long distance. You wouldn't have to have that speaker moved for the entire dinner/cocktail, just during speeches. It might seem like a bit of work, but it's worth it and your client will love you. Etc: |
Here's a video from Matt about the set-up from the customer's perspective.

When I'm sent to this venue with uplights, I allow extra time. There are enough outlets, but you need to find them in the floor and use a screwdriver to pop the covers off. Also make sure you have plenty of extensions & connecting cables for the uplights (I've had to have some shuttled to me by the tech). I've loaded in through the back loading dock as the building is closing to the public, and begun my uplights & ceremony set-up as SOON AS I COULD to make sure it was all kosher.
